How do you start your day?

When you woke this morning, did you press the snooze button, get out of bed at the last minute, brush your teeth, shower and dress before rushing out the door? Your day has started and the question is how will you deal with unexpected challenges, make good choices and understand the reasons why you choose to rush?

This method causes us to start the day being subconsciously annoyed whether going to class or work and we start playing the mental blame game. For example, if we are late for an exam, or miss the train, or it starts to rain and we do not have an umbrella or if someone say something and we misinterpret what was said, on and on. We blame the instructor, the conductor because he/she should have held the door, the meteorologist didn’t get the weather correct or you work hard and are not acknowledged. We have to understand the reasons we blame others for choices we make and for things outside of anyone’s control.

Our reactions to many situations really stem from how we begin the day.

Try this for seven days and be totally committed and let me know the difference with your attitude.

  • First, wake ten minutes earlier than usual to spend time with yourself. This will give you a sense of accomplishment, time to think and start the day with a focused mindset.
  • Secondly, create your story about your life (write or type and keep it close to your heart). The story enhances the mental power to achieve the goal set.
  • Thirdly, use your energy and imagination to entirely focus on you by accepting who you are no matter the situation. Love yourself because you are loved by you and you are fully aware of who you are.

Acknowledge that every day is not a great day, but it is a doable day because you are in control of your life.

Remember to look in the mirror and love what you see. It starts with you loving you.

How will you rise? I am here and listening!

Good morning! I’m elated that you chose this topic. My mornings are usually hectic and I rarely have time for myself. I’m going to take your advice and wake earlier to spend time with God and myself.

  3. I start my day with prayer. Your mindset determines how you approach the day. You can choose to be positive or negative. Being optimistic opens up more opportunities and possibilities. For me the glass is always half full instead of half empty.
Sunshine this is great information; continue to inspire, encourage. uplift, and motivate others…..this is your gift.

I wake up thanking Jesus for seeing another day, then lay back down. Now, I’m really awake ready to take on the day. But wait, I’m one of those people who procrastinate and of course now I’m late and rushing.

You are on point about the blame game, this is done to throw the focus off of me being late. After reading your suggestions I will begin on tomorrow I will update you in a week to let you know how it is going.

Thanks for blog, you have encouraged me to do better so that I can have a positive day. Regardless of what happens.

    1. Thanks for your comment and remember to complete one task at a time to feel a sense of accomplish. For example, say you hop out of bed and leave unmade. Start making your bed every single morning until it becomes muscle memory ( a speech a Navy Seal made in 2015), and since you are a praying women, visualize how wonderful you will feel kneeling next to a made bed praying. Once you rise from your knees, your organization skills may kick in. I am here and listening, let me know how it works.

  6. I start my day giving God thanks, praying, then reading scripture. I’m a firm believer in one scripture a day will keep the devil away. Although, negativity will come you should be able to handle it gracefully.
